The National Association of Realtors reported that 91 out of 152 metropolitan areas in the U.S. showed median single-family home prices increased in this year’s first quarter compared to a year ago.

In Utah, however, home prices fell 11.4 percent in the first quarter compared to a year earlier. Eight other metro areas across the country reported bigger home price declines than Salt Lake City.
Fox 13 News reporter Dan Evans said that Salt Lake’s home prices are falling, but also noted that home sales were on the rise. “Sales drive the pricing,” said Dave Anderton, communications director for the Salt Lake Board of Realtors. “As sales come back we will see prices stabilize and actually increase over the next year.”
